The smallest island in the world ever to have been partitioned between two different nations, St. Martin/St. Maarten has been shared by the French and the Dutch in a spirit of neighborly cooperation and mutual friendship for almost 350 years.

Pinel Island, or Isle Pinel, or in French Ilet Pinel or Ile de Pinel, is a tiny island on the north end of St. Martin, 5 minutes off the shores of French Cul de Sac. A must see on your visit! It is the place where locals on St. Martin/St. Maarteen go to relax! The end of the road at French Cul de Sac brings you to a gazebo like structure where you will fi nd local vendors and small ferry boats are waiting there to run you over to the islet for a fee of six dollars. Enjoy a wonderful short five minute taxi-boat ride on the pristine and shallow waters for a relaxing day of exploring, sunbathing, or a picnic on this tropical paradise!

While on the Island you can enjoy a wonderful frozen drink and delicious lunch from The Key Restaurant which is situated directly in the center of a sun laden beach. Have your drink served to you while you lounge on the beach or relax on the open air deck of the restaurant. The Key also features a retail store where you can purchase souvenirs or some exclusive Key merchandise to remember your stay on St. Martin/St. Maarteen and Ilet Pinel.
